Michel graduated from McGill University (Macdonald College) in 1980 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics. Following his studies, Michel went to work for the National Dairy Council of Canada in Ottawa. At that time, the NDC was the national lobbying organization for processors and marketers of milk and other dairy products in Canada.
Michel joined OMAFRA in the early 1990s as a Business Management Specialist in Northern Ontario and spent several years working out of the New Liskeard office. In 1999, he was appointed as Agricultural Representative for Prescott-Russell.
His role has changed since he first came to Alfred and he now works as an Agriculture and Rural Economic Development Advisor serving Prescott-Russell, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.
