Local Food Counters
In 2015 and 2016 with support from the Government of Ontario, the Eastern Ontario Agri-Food Network invested in a promotion campaign to position local food counters at grocery stores and local food processors. These retail partners have a particular commitment to local food brands and supporting the local economy.
A local food counter is a product display counter supplied by the retail partner and is stocked with products from local food producers. The counter is accompanied by signage, an electronic display, and optionally an interactive touch screen that provides more details to the consumer on the local food brands.
This year 2021, the EOAN is investing in updating the display material and renewing the technology. The EOAN is considering plans in 2022 to potentially expand the network local food counters. Watch for more news in 2022.
